Thought of the Day: LOVE IS GOOD MEDICINE

Photobucket

“Love and intimacy are at a root of what makes us sick and what makes us well, what causes sadness and what brings happiness, what makes us suffer and what leads to healing. If a new drug had the same impact, virtually every doctor in the country would be recommending it for their patients. It would be malpractice not to prescribe it.” -- Dr. Dean Ornish

LONDON (AFP) – Prince Charles has beaten off competition from US President Barack Obama to be named the world's best dressed man by Esquire magazine.

Book of the Month: Making a Living in Your Local Music Market

Photobucket

Making a Living in Your Local Music Market, shows you how to expand and develop your skills as a musician and a composer, right in your own backyard. It explores topics relevant to musicians of every level. There is detailed coverage and success stories of regional music markets, including the San Francisco Bay Area, Austin, Atlanta, Denver, Miami, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon etc.

I am a book worm, I read all types of books... And this month I am reading this book. I am giving my review prior to finishing because I’ve already found so much lucrative information in this book that I had to share. This is a good book for artists, artist management and any music professionals to read. Contrary to the belief of most local artists, it is possible to survive happily in your local music market. There are a lot of good resources, right here in the Bay Area, who offer support to aspiring artists & musicians, from legal to grants for your entertainment companies… You just need to know where to look and most importantly --learn how to develop and package your artistic skills in your marketplace. Then and only then, will you gain enough momentum and exposure, to be successful in bigger markets like LA or NYC. This book is a good guide in helping you accomplish that.

So, Read the book. Educate yourself. If you do and still haven’t “realized your marketing potential” then ... umm ... maybe it’s more of a personal issue, then geography limiting your upward mobility. No offense.

Available at your local book stores … Or check your local library.
